Venki Raman: The energy of a leader in times of rapid change
Josef Dvořáček spent a long time in the advertising world. It was there that he first realized that the uncompromising environment focused on money and success was not good for him and not sustainable in the long run. He decided to make a change and joined Sonnentor, a company in the wine region of southern Moravia that captivated him especially because of its approach to sustainability.
The company has built its efforts to make the world a better place from the very beginning. Whether it’s how they handle raw materials, nature, or how they chose to use a dilapidated building instead of constructing new production halls.
The most convincing proof that Sonnentor doesn’t just hide behind big words about sustainability can be found in the stories of ordinary people. You’ll discover who came up with the idea to put a little flower in the window on the packaging, who thought of reducing plastic use, and which employee discovered the secret ingredient that made one of their organic teas a sales hit. “Throughout the company, there are people who love it and give it their all,” begins one of many stories from Dvořáček.
Who is Josef Dvořáček?
Josef Dvořáček is co-owner and director of SONNENTOR, which today is a leading processor of herbs, teas, and spices from organic farming. At SONNENTOR, you’ll find plenty of inspiration from sustainability and social responsibility. They develop new types of packaging materials for their products that are compostable and minimally impact the environment, actively work on reducing energy consumption and dependency. They foster local cooperation with organic growers and farmers as well as fair direct trade projects with specific people in third-world countries.
They do things differently and fundamentally do not sell to multinational retail chains. Yet SONNENTOR has become an admired brand. Together with their colleagues, they chose the company motto: JOY GROWS HERE, expressing how they feel that their mission today is to bring people enthusiasm for herbs, teas, spices, and life in general. If you visit their tourist project Herb paradise SONNENTOR in Čejkovice in southern Moravia, you will definitely experience their unique company culture.
