Who is Vladimír Mařík?
Prof. Ing. Vladimír Mařík, DrSc., dr.h.c. graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU, specializing in Technical Cybernetics. At this faculty, he worked from 1975 to 2015 successively as an assistant professor, associate professor, professor (appointed in 1990), head of the Department of Cybernetics – EU center of excellence (1999-2013). In 2013, he founded and from 2013 to 2018 was the director of the newly established university institute Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics at CTU (CIIRC), and he is now the scientific director of this institute. His research focuses on cybernetics, robotics, and artificial intelligence. He is the author or co-author of 10 book monographs, 160 professional articles, and 5 US patents.
From 1993 to 2009, he also served as founder and director of the Rockwell Automation Research Center Prague, and since 2010 he has been chairman of the board of CertiCon, a.s. He contributed to the preparation of the national initiative Industry 4.0.
