The lecture highlights unresolved issues in the Czech social system related to debt enforcement, housing shortages, unequal educational opportunities, and the situation of single mothers and low-income parents. It outlines possible solutions (which do exist) as well as the risks of how the coronavirus pandemic might worsen these problems.
Who is Daniel Prokop?
Daniel Prokop is a sociologist focusing on political, social, and educational research. He introduced several innovations in Czech election research and recently has concentrated mainly on researching social problems and educational inequalities. To this end, he founded the research organization PAQ Research. He was a member of the expert group preparing the educational strategy through 2030. This year, he published a successful book on social and educational issues – Slepé skvrny. He worked for nearly 10 years at the MEDIAN agency.
