AI and the epidemic of loneliness
Radek Hábl began to deeply engage with executions after a relative asked him for help. This led to the creation of the Execution Map. Its advantage and added value compared to previous data is that it shows the number of people in execution directly in specific towns and municipalities, not just an overall figure. “It materializes the problem,” says Hábl. This is something local governments can no longer ignore.
He also presented possible solutions. For example, he views the amendment to the insolvency law positively, which will offer indebted people an option they didn’t have before – to get out of debt and return to normal life. “People who are over-indebted will have a chance to recover and return to the labor market and economically active life,” he explains.
“Of course, debts should be paid, and when someone gets into debt and execution, the purpose should be to recover the debt, not to crush the person even more and deny them that chance,” Hábl concludes.
Who is Radek Hábl?
Radek Hábl is a former financial manager. He worked in finance for over 12 years. He was responsible for financial management at companies such as Pivovary Staropramen and IBM.
In 2014, he swapped the corporate world for the nonprofit sector. In cooperation with Otevřená společnost, o.p.s., he implemented the award-winning Execution Map project both domestically and abroad in 2016. Since 2015, he has also collaborated with the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, working at the Agency for Social Inclusion as an expert on debt issues. As one of the few Czechs, he earned membership in the global network of social innovators Ashoka Fellows network, representing the Czech Republic since 2018. His goal and dream is a Czech Republic free of unscrupulous debt business and the related necessary legislative changes, helping all people in difficult financial situations, and making debt prevention and awareness a standard practice rather than an ad hoc solution.
