AI and the epidemic of loneliness
The gaming industry is not just a niche entertainment that amuses children and worries parents. On the contrary, it is a growing field that will offer many job opportunities in the future. “The gaming industry has surpassed music and film production in size in a much shorter time,” Řežábová points out as an example.
The speakers also addressed the topic of children and games, which is often discussed among parents but no one really knows how to approach it. Božena Řežábová considers it most important to focus on two questions – whether you know what your child is playing and how much time they spend gaming. It is the parents’ responsibility to teach children to stop, inspire them, and give them opportunities to move and have experiences beyond the screen.
At the same time, she is against strict bans on games. Children nowadays play online with friends or siblings, learning to cooperate better, and they can also bond through shared interests. “When I need to find a way to connect with my children, I play the game they are playing with them, because then we have a common topic and shared experience,” Řežábová explains.
