Why tie-break? Because tennis has connected us both and still does. And it was tennis that introduced the tie-break in the 1970s, a shortened game designed to end sometimes endless tennis marathons. Our first warm-up shortened game kicks off with a conversation about labeling generations. What do members of Generation Z think of us—almost Boomers? And why do we call them snowflakes? Are they really that fragile and less resilient, or are they actually much more perceptive, confident, and responsible than we millennials were in our post-puberty years? Why do our children dismissively call us Boomers, and what makes them respect us as a generation? We both try to avoid generalizations. This time, Anička and I played more like doubles partners on the same side of the net. But you can also expect sharper serve-and-volley exchanges and high lobs for smashes. Believe me, over a quarter of a century as father and daughter, we’ve tested this more than once—not just in tennis🙂.
