Martin Holečko, founder & CEO of Future Port Prague and co-founder of Etnetera Group, says about the book:

The fate of the world is in our hands. Humanity has only a five-thousand-year recorded history. Our yet unwritten future could last millions of years—or it could end tomorrow. A vast number of people could live lives full of great happiness or unimaginable suffering, or they might not live at all—it all depends on what we decide to do today.
In his book What We Owe the Future, philosopher William MacAskill presents arguments for “longtermism”—the idea that positively influencing the distant future should be a moral priority of our time. From this perspective, it’s not enough just to reverse climate change or prevent the next pandemic—we must ensure that whenever civilization collapses in the future, it can recover, overcome the end of moral progress, and prepare for a planet where the smartest beings are digital, not human.
If we make wise decisions today, our great-grandchildren will thrive, knowing we did everything we could to give them a world full of justice, hope, and beauty.
