Drawing on his extensive experience as a polar explorer, traveling director, and writer over 25 years, our guest will share how to cope with uncertainty, find meaning in everyday life, and face challenges related to climate change and technological progress.

Who is Petr Horký

Petr Horký is a Czech director, writer, and polar explorer whose life is connected with traveling and discovering not only remote corners of the world but also deeper connections of our existence. After studying teaching and a career as a TV presenter, he graduated in film directing and eventually earned a PhD at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague. His travels have taken him to places like Antarctica, Greenland, and the Himalayas; he has discovered sunken ships in the Maldives, reached both the North and South Poles, crossed Greenland on skis, and more.
His documentary films, such as Století Miroslava Zikmunda (nominated for the Czech Lion) and Civilizace: Dobrá zpráva o konci světa (currently distributed in 58 countries worldwide), resonate not only with respect for nature and history but also with the courage to ask questions about the contemporary world and our role in it. Petr is also the author of thirteen books in which he shares his insights, stories, and philosophy based on respect for people, nature, and values. Through his approach to life and work, he inspires all who seek a balance between performance, humanity, and a meaningful life.
