We believe that in our conversation you will discover not only the true unspoiled beauty of sport but also hope that it might still last a little longer for us. ;-)

Who is Robert Záruba?

Robert Záruba is a Czech sports commentator and editor-in-chief of the sports department at ČT, as Wikipedia would surely tell you. However, this hardly captures the full scope of his work, which ranges from commentating on sports matches (he has over 1,600 under his belt) to organizing and executing huge sporting events such as the Olympic Games or the Ice Hockey World Championships. Hockey is, after all, his passion and specialty, as you will surely notice almost every time the Czech hockey team takes the ice. :-)

Although his name is associated with many memorable commentary lines, Robert Záruba does not consider catchphrases his royal discipline. On the contrary, unlike foreign commentators, he sticks to the principle that each catchphrase should be used only once, as it reflects the uniqueness of an unrepeatable moment. During the forced slowdown of sporting events, Robert Záruba began focusing on the archive of Czech sports video, which later gave rise to the popular show Archiv Z.
