Money vs cryptocurrencies

Together with Pavel Kysilka, a longtime banker and founder of 6D, and Vašek Holler, founder of Cryfin, we will discuss what money is, how it gains or loses value, and whether the time is near when we will completely stop using cash. 

We will also explore the world of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. We will clarify what blockchain is and what other uses this technology might bring to our lives. We will compare the advantages and disadvantages of traditional FIAT currencies and cryptocurrencies from transactional and investment perspectives. Money has been and still is associated with the desire for power, causing wars, unrest, and plundering. At the same time, it has driven overseas discoveries, trade development, and innovation. Will the same one day apply to cryptocurrencies?

Many folk sayings and proverbs have arisen about money, so I will also ask my guests whether time is money for them, whether money comes first, or if they would let someone drill their knee for a crown :).

Pavel Kysilka

Pavel has expertise ranging from macroeconomics, finance, and banking to digitalization. He has served as an advisor to the minister for economic policy and as Deputy Governor of the Czech National Bank, managed the currency separation of the Czech and Slovak koruna, and led similar projects in many countries as an expert for the International Monetary Fund. He was also CEO of Česká spořitelna for five years and since 2016 has been helping companies with strategy and business model transformation toward the digital economy through 6D. He chairs the Supervisory Boards of České dráhy and ČMZRB, is a member of the Czech Television Council, and president of the Smetanova Litomyšl music festival. Outside of work, you can often find him on a mountain or road bike.

Václav Holler

Vašek comes from Hradec Králové and already succeeded with his team in programming during high school when they won the Česká hlavička award for software that optimized 3D printing. As a young programmer, he followed the emergence of cryptocurrencies almost from Bitcoin’s beginnings. At that time, he didn’t realize they would one day become a serious investment tool. He entered the financial world through forex. Around 2015, he began to see cryptocurrencies as a significant opportunity. He is a blockchain enthusiast and believes it is a technology that will change not only the financial world. He now leads CRYFIN, a company focused on asset management and cryptocurrency investing.
