czeXperiment – a lab where Czechia examines itself
We believe this conversation will help bring closer the worlds of those who love influencers and those who… at best, don’t quite understand them. :-)
What was covered in the lecture?
- Why it’s becoming increasingly difficult for him to publish videos for three quarters of a million people – 03:43
- Which boundaries Kovy would never cross, even though many adults paradoxically do – 41:28
- What absolutely terrified him when he tried filming videos in America (and it’s slowly creeping over to us too) – 47:36
- Which of his YouTube videos Kovy values the most – 55:24
Who is Karel Kovy Kovář?
Karel Kovy Kovář is an influencer, YouTuber, and author. He launched his first YouTube channel, Kovy, in 2012, followed by three more channels (including one in English), and over time his videos have gained more than 800,000 subscribers. Kovy approaches Instagram with the same energy, where his follower count is close to his YouTube numbers.
Kovy stands out from other Czech YouTubers by often addressing topics like critical thinking, politics, media literacy (e.g., the show Kovy’s media ring) and other socially significant issues in his videos. Together with Tereza Salte, he records the Linka podcast. He is also known to viewers of Czech Television, both from the show StarDance and the documentary film Kovy tackles history. In 2019, his second book, iPohádka, was published.
