We will explore the use of robotic construction methods, 3D printing, VR, artificial gravity, wireless power transfer, and other technologies that could turn sci-fi into reality. Tomáš will also share his experiences from international collaborations and the challenges he faces when implementing projects.
Who is Tomáš Rousek
Tomáš Rousek is the director of XTEND in Prague and London and also works as the director of architecture at ThinkOrbital in Colorado. He has contributed to missions to the Moon, Mars, and asteroids at NASA JPL, Ames, and JSC centers. He has collaborated on projects with ESA, the German space agency DLR, and the European Union.
At ThinkOrbital, he develops concepts for large space platforms and infrastructure that would be robotically assembled and welded in orbit and on the Moon. He worked with Interlune on concepts for lunar stations for helium-3 mining and related robotic systems. Tom designed the Solstar WAP product, which NASA selected for the new HALO module of the Gateway lunar station. He led research on SinterHab, the first concept of a 3D-printed lunar module based on NASA technology.
At AECOM in London, he contributed to architecture for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi. He is the author of the architecture for the next-generation CR-100 nuclear power plant. Tom worked on architecture and design for brands such as Vodafone, LEGO, Škoda Auto, and Mercedes-Benz. His designs have been exhibited at 20 shows across Europe and America.
He has received several awards, including from the NASA administrator. His research covers advanced architecture and transportation, robotic construction methods, space greenhouses and life support systems, 3D printing, virtual reality, graphics, and product design.
