Artificial intelligence can undoubtedly be seen as the true conductor of the future. Not only will it significantly impact almost all job opportunities in the near future, but also the ways we spend our free time. We are no longer just talking about chess supercomputers — today, AI finds applications in various scientific and social fields — including autonomous cars, cybersecurity, and neural networks behind online language translators.

Michal Pěchouček’s lecture focused not only on the classification and definition of artificial intelligence but mainly on its historical development, significant milestones it has overcome, and an outline of its possible future. We learned about the risks AI may pose, for example, to internet security and personal freedom, as well as how artificial intelligence can be applied in medicine, law, and economics.

What was covered in the lecture?

  • How the world GO grandmaster could console himself after being crushed by a computer in the game — 15:44
  • How to turn a pig into a plane and protect your own and your friends’ privacy — 43:08
  • What your children should study so they won’t be replaced by machines in a few years — 1:00:16
  • Where machines still lose to humans hands down1:05:00

Who is Michal Pěchouček?
