czeXperiment – a lab where Czechia examines itself
A hundred years ago, remarkable quantum physics was formulated, yet its understanding defies common sense. So let’s dive into a fairy tale where the magical spells of this physical theory are clear and understandable.
What will you learn during the episode?
- What happens inside a quantum computer (and why the same calculations would take conventional computers millions of years)
- How quantum teleportation works (and whether it will allow us to send information remotely without any time delay)
- What vast possibilities quantum technologies open up in medicine, communication, and scientific development
- Which questions quantum physics raises about life in many worlds and parallel universes
Who is the guest?
Miroslav Holeček
Miroslav Holeček conveys the principles of quantum physics to listeners through stories, analogies, and even fairy tales. He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University, specializing in theoretical physics. From 2015 to 2023, he served as the rector of the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň. He is remembered by students for his regular runs with the rector and for serving them draft beer he brewed himself. Currently, he works at the New Technologies research center at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň, where he lectures on physics and the philosophy of physics and mathematics.
