Resilience
In 2018, Marek Orko Vácha enriched the YouTube channel of our project in an interview at the Table for Three, where we talked, among other things, about responsibility, the short-sightedness of politics, and the value of a person. Although the lecture “Community of victims” was a “prequel” to this interview, as is commonly said today, it doesn’t change the great ideas contained in it, which can soothe the soul as well as deliver a sharp kick. And the question came up of how a scientifically educated person and faith in God can be united in one individual. :-)
What was said in the lecture?
- Whether we should be more afraid of those who break laws or those who follow them
- Why we so eagerly shirk responsibility and how cleverly we do it
- What is the price of “someone else is to blame for everything”
- How a person should approach responsibility to live a successful life
Who is Marek Vácha?
Marek Vácha is a medical ethicist, priest, evolutionary biologist, writer, blogger, educator, and head of the Institute of Ethics and Humanities at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, UK. He specializes in questions of evolutionary biology, medical ethics, and the ethics of human genome research – he is the author of dozens of professional and popular science articles, as well as more than ten books.
He also serves as the pastor of the Lechovice parish. Through his approach to evolution, our role in it, and related ethical questions, he offers a unique perspective on the question “Who is a human being, really?”. Not least because of this, he enjoys a reputation as one of the most popular lecturers in the Czech Republic.
