This is what Filip Dřímalka, a member of the Red Button network, says about the book.

jeff bezos and the age of amazon

Amazon.com started out delivering books by mail, riding the first wave of internet hype. However, its founder Jeff Bezos was not content with just a trendy online bookstore. He wanted Amazon to offer an unlimited range of products, irresistible convenience, and very low prices – to become the “everything store.” To realize this grand vision, he built a corporate culture full of relentless ambition and secrecy that no one had ever penetrated. Until now.

The everything store is a thorough biography of the tech giant that was among the first to bet big on the internet and forever changed how we shop and read. It’s a long-awaited and candid account of one of the most significant companies of our time, as well as a deeply personal look at the iconic entrepreneur who founded it.

“The most important point is customer contact and thinking about them,” Dřímalka introduces one of Amazon’s operating principles. He illustrates this with the example of the email address Jeff Bezos has designated for his personal customer contact. “He says he doesn’t read everything as he used to, but regularly checks it. I ask myself who among our customers and their management actually reads messages from their customers.”

“For me, it’s a book about leadership and how today’s organizations should operate if they want to succeed in the digital age,” says Dřímalka.
