He set aside just 30 minutes for the lecture because he wanted to dedicate as much time as possible to discussion with the audience — and it turned out exceptionally well! Thanks to it, we found out, for example, why Václav Moravec reveals some politicians' salaries before the episode of Otázky Václava Moravce airs, whether he would dare to host the Ice Hockey World Championship, and that he is unexpectedly talented at impersonating political figures. :-)

What was covered in the lecture?

  • Who really created Andrej Babiš (and even Václav originally couldn’t believe it) – 21:36
  • Which billionaires he truly respects and which ones he is skeptical of because of their wealth35:25
  • Where politicians very subtly and unnoticed test how far they can go1:07:32
  • What really bothers him about women in politics (and it’s not their number) – 1:53:23

Who is Václav Moravec?

Václav Moravec comes from the foothills of the Orlické Mountains, which greatly influenced his future life. He also started his career there. He worked at Český rozhlas, Evropa 2, Frekvence 1, Impuls radio stations, and even at the Czech section of BBC radio, where he earned the Novinářská křepelka award. He is also the recipient of four TýTý awards for the most popular television journalism personality. In his free time, he enjoys walking his dog, gardening, and beekeeping.

A major milestone in his media career was 2004, when Česká televize began airing the Sunday debate “Otázky Václava Moravce” (OVM), where Václav quickly gained a wide audience thanks to his uncompromising and fact-based approach. In 2015, Václav added what he called “psychohygiene” in the lecture — the show “Fokus Václava Moravce” — so since then, Václav Moravec has hosted two shows for ČT. For his main academic position, Václav Moravec chose FSV UK, where he also studied and currently serves as chairman of the Academic Senate.
