What you will learn during the episode
- How parasites and symbionts affect the health and functioning of their host
- How our tiny inhabitants have exceeded even the boldest scientific expectations
- Under what circumstances a symbiont can turn into a parasite and vice versa
- Why we should bring some "old friends" parasites back into our lives (and bodies)
Who is the guest?
Julius Lukeš
Julius Lukeš is a world-leading expert in parasitology, director of the Parasitology Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He has been bitten by a tse-tse fly and eaten a tapeworm (allegedly for research purposes). He has visited over 90 countries, usually bringing something back with him. He claims that even the most civilized person is essentially a walking zoo.
