Josef Šlerka

Josef Šlerka is a Czech semiotician and expert in social media data analysis. He also works as a university lecturer at Charles University.

Since August 2017, he has been the director of the Nadační fond nezávislé žurnalistiky (Foundation for Independent Journalism). He also serves as a university lecturer at Charles University. Under Josef Šlerka’s leadership, the pilot version of the Foundation’s project Mapa médií (Media Map) is running, aiming to collect information about Czech media and various aspects of journalism and media practice.

Previously, he worked at Ataxo, where he was head of the Social Insider technology division. In April 2014, Social Insider was acquired by the Czech startup Socialbakers, for which Josef Šlerka served as head of development and research until July 2017.

On the website Lupa.cz, he was called the “veteran of Czech digital.” On Startupnews.cz, he was named a “matador of the Czech IT scene.” In 2014, he was chosen as “Personality of the Year” by the expert jury at the Czech internet awards Křišťálová Lupa.

Petr Koubský

A Czech publicist, analyst of information and communication media, and educator. He currently works as a science and technology editor for Deník N. He has written and translated several books on IT and teaches at the University of Economics, Prague and the Faculty of Arts at Charles University.

He studied industrial automation at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, where he earned a candidate of sciences degree in cybernetics and computer science.

He worked as a systems programmer at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. He was editor-in-chief of the monthly Softwarové noviny, which he co-founded. He then continued in the same role until 2007 at the newsletter Inside. He was program director at Internet Info. Since 2001, he has taught at the University of Economics in Prague. In 2012, he founded iCollege.

In 2013, he won the Křišťálová lupa award in the Personality of the Year category.
