Who is Jiří Matějovský?

Jiří Matějovský has been part of Decathlon since 2009. His first experiences, gained at a store in Fouquières-lès-Béthune in northern France, significantly contributed to the successful opening of the first Decathlon store in the Czech Republic in Liberec. From 2011, he led the Liberec store for three years. His knowledge of the store, solving everyday problems "on the ground," and alignment with the corporate culture shaped Jiří’s further path. From 2014 until last summer, he was responsible for making sure people enjoyed working at Decathlon as an HR leader (Happiness resource). At the end of last summer, he took on the role of "Head Coach"—which surprises or amuses many people from outside. However, when you look inside Decathlon and learn that the first requirement for the job is to be an enthusiastic athlete, this metaphor starts to make sense. In his new role, Jiří aims to offer training sessions that help people understand the purpose of how Decathlon operates. Only then can employees become independently deciding teammates within the company.
