Resilience
In his lecture, he showed us how prominent figures in our history, such as T. G. Masaryk, Jan Patočka, Václav Havel, and Jiří Krupička, viewed us as Czechs. Don’t expect any sugarcoating! It seems that some of our “joyful” traits were already evident at least as far back as the First Republic. :-)
What was covered in the lecture?
- How did thinking develop in the Czech lands from the First Republic to the present day?
- Can we learn from our mistakes, or do we keep repeating the same errors?
- How did the Czech “people” respond to the personalities (and ideas) of T. G. Masaryk, Jan Patočka, and Václav Havel?
- To what extent does the mindset of our parents and grandparents influence today’s situation in the Czech Republic?
