The lecture is on one hand very imaginative (that parable about the cow really makes you think), and on the other hand honest, proving that even the economics of good and evil hasn’t been spared. :-)
What was covered in the lecture?
- A Freudian slip in the famous Trump phrase “Let’s make America great again” (06:07)
- Which invisible hand Tomáš believes in (it’s not the hand of the market) and several supporting proofs (38:35)
- A practical example of how philosophy can save you from smashing your face (52:50)
- Why we don’t have to fear overpopulation of the Earth and the surprising reason behind it (1:13:02)
Who is Tomáš Sedláček?
Tomáš Sedláček is an economist, but among his interests are also conspiracy theories and he is increasingly drawn to philosophy. Thanks to his book “Ekonomie dobra a zla,” Tomáš’s name has been mentioned literally worldwide, not only because of his proposal to replace the word economics with “humanomics.” This was followed by a number of other books, articles on his personal blog, and tens of thousands of fans on social networks. He currently works as the chief macroeconomic strategist at ČSOB and was formerly an advisor to President Václav Havel. The GDI Institute named him one of the 100 most influential thinkers in the world.
