Who is Jaroslav Petr?

Jaroslav Petr is a Czech biologist. He graduated from the University of Agriculture in Prague, majoring in zootechnics. Since 1983, he has worked as a senior research scientist at the Animal Production Research Institute in Prague Uhříněves. In 2004, he was appointed professor in the field of physiology, anatomy, and reproduction of farm animals. He lectures on biotechnology at the Faculty of Science of Charles University, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, and Masaryk University in Brno. For his popularization of science, which he has been engaged in since the 1990s, he received the Award of the Government Council for Research, Development and Innovation.

Although, as he himself says, his expertise is closer to pigs than to humans, genetics, genetic modification, and gene therapy are such fascinating topics for him that he devotes himself intensively to them and strives to spread awareness in this area, which he considers fundamental for a positive future development of the human story.
