What will you hear today? “Even we, who grew up on social media, no longer recognize what is true and what isn’t. And that’s a bit depressing even for our generation,” says Anička.
“But we don’t see fake information as much of a risk as you do. I see thousands of AI images every day, I don’t think much about them, and just keep scrolling, that’s just how it is… No one from our generation will watch political debates on TV anymore. The brevity is definitely a big problem, but whoever masters it skillfully will win. For example, the ANO movement bet on TikTok after the elections – and in four years it grew in popularity among Gen Z by 10%.”
Political content today wins not through arguments but through form. “Form is now more important than content. ANO understood that. The biggest mistake is sticking to what doesn’t work – and it worries me a bit that traditional parties still don’t really get it.”
We also touched on geopolitical topics that are all the rage these days. “Regarding what’s happening in America, there’s more diversity of opinion in our bubble now. But when it comes to what’s happening at home, my friends and I have very similar views.”
And what do you think about the shift in approach to woke topics? Is it a problem or is society returning to “normal”? “For me, the woke topic was pushed to an extreme to spark discussion. It had its reason. I definitely wouldn’t dismiss some of it. I’m a supporter of freedom and try to live by the motto live and let live. When no one threatens anyone, it’s unacceptable to label them.”
Aničká also speaks openly about migration: “When I moved to a foreign country, I always tried to adapt, integrate, not stand out. Some migrants lack this, and I see that as a problem, although I understand why they leave their countries.”
The decline of democracy, rise of authoritarianism, polarization, activism fatigue – how do today’s twenty-five-year-olds perceive all this? Do they have it easier or harder than their parents? “I’m entering the productive years, but I remain optimistic. Maybe we’re not so quick to start families. First, we want to have something, and only then responsibly start a family. That’s why many postpone it.”
